The Birthday of A. S. Pushkin

On June 6, 2018, the 219th birthday of the greatest Russian poet, playwright and novelist Alexander Pushkin, a memorable meeting dedicated to his life and work took place in the library of Michurinsk State Agrarian University.

The event was organized by the head of the library Olga Psareva, together with the staff of the Department of international relations for international students studying at the University.

Head librarian Nadezhda Bykovskaya told about the personality of the poet, told of his origin, childhood and youth, years of study in high school, creative journey, which began with his acquaintance with the G. R. Derzhavin, V. A. Zhukovsky, N. M. Karamzin.

The library staff enthusiastically told about the key moments of Alexander Pushkin's life: his return to Moscow, his trip to Tsarskoye Selo, his exile to Mikhailovskoye, his flight to the Caucasus, his marriage and his tragic death in a duel. The prose was accompanied by recitation of poems on the sounded subject. International students listened about the invaluable contribution of the great Russian poet to the history of world literature with great interest and read the works of Alexander Pushkin themselves.
