Business Trip to Italy

The delegates of Michurinsk State Agrarian University, led by the rector Vadim Babushkin, arrived in Italy on a working visit upon the invitation of the authorized representative of the company ISOLCELL s.p.a. ITALY Stefano Brigadua. The program was designed for several days and included activities aimed at expanding partnerships for scientific purposes in the field of fruit and vegetable storage in ULO conditions.

Initially, the cooperation between organizations was established at the end of 2018 as a part of the “YugAgro” exhibition in Krasnodar, where the parties concluded a cooperation agreement. The relationship is established primarily with the intension of successful cooperation in the field of horticulture based on the experience of long-term storage of fruits and vegetables in a dynamic atmosphere. The signing of this agreement took place within the framework of the political course of the Tambov region Governor, Chairman of  Michurinsk State Agrarian University Board of Trustees Alexander Nikitin.

The delegation included Galina Korotkova, vice-rector for science and innovation, Dmitry Akishin, director of the Center for collective use of scientific equipment, and Roman Vorobyov, consultant of the Laboratory of fruit and vegetables storage technologies.

The programme involved meetings with the management of “ISOLCELL” s.p.a. ITALY; visits to production sites and laboratories in the city of Layves, storage facilities in the provinces of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige and Meran, an experimental station and laboratory in Limburg; meetings with the scientific community of the Limburg Institute aimed to discuss the experience and cooperation in the field progressive storage technologies development.

During the visit, the University employees, jointly with foreign partners, tested new equipment and software in the ULO laboratory, discussed the prospective internship programmes for Michurinsk SAU specialists and conducting practical seminars on the storage of agricultural products using ULO technologies.

According to the Rector of the Michurinsk State Agrarian University Vadim Babushkin, the university has established cooperation with many foreign firms in the scientific and educational areas. With ISOLCELL s.p.a. ITALY the cooperation is dedicated to the development of progressive fruit and vegetable technologies. “This will help us to improve the unique object in the innovative structure of the university - the teaching and research laboratory of fruits and vegetables advanced technologies storage, as well as to unite efforts in the scientific field with the aim of joint participation in research programs”.

The delegates of the Michurinsk State Agrarian University invited colleagues from Italy to take part in the XIV National Exhibition “ The Day of Horticulture”, which will be held under the auspice of the RF Ministry of Agriculture in Michurinsk-science city in September 2019 .
